About
The NGFP Rural Futures Hub brings together foresight practitioners, rural changemakers and other stakeholders working to create fairer, more inclusive, resilient and thriving rural futures. Through futures thinking, intergenerational dialogue and collaboration, the Hub challenges the idea that rural communities are simply recipients of policies and innovations developed elsewhere. Instead, it recognises rural places as sources of knowledge and global insight, with the potential to pioneer new approaches to governance, climate resilience, cultural renewal and sustainable development.
The Hub supports members and rural communities to anticipate emerging challenges and opportunities and develop locally led responses. Through participatory rural appraisal, research, knowledge sharing and policy engagement, it seeks to strengthen rural voices in decision-making and build inclusive pathways towards sustainable livelihoods and more diverse, resilient economies. Its areas of interest include energy access, climate justice and resilience, regenerative agriculture, urbanisation, cultural identity and digital rights. A core ambition is to co-create a Rural and Indigenous Peoples Manifesto that articulates a transformative vision and shared advocacy agenda for rural futures globally.

Duncan Koome
Kenya | Programme Manager
Duncan is a Kenyan futurist and foresight practitioner with a background in IT delivery, programme management and digital transformation. Through NGFP, he participated in the Data Governance and African Futures Leadership Series cohorts, where the African Futures & Foresight Action Forum (AFFAF) was conceptualised. He now supports AFFAF’s programme development and works to advance African-led approaches to foresight and futures. Connect with Duncan.

Sarah Spencer
United Kingdom | Community Weaver and Interim NGFP Fellowship Lead
Sarah is SOIF’s Community Weaver and Coordinator and Interim NGFP Fellowship Lead. A member of NGFP since its launch in 2018, she helps shape the practice, coordinates alumni and community programmes, and leads the NGFP Judges Network. She also co-leads the Network of Network Weavers and coordinates SOIF’s Strategic Foresight Retreat. Before joining SOIF, Sarah spent 12 years in the UK Civil Service, including the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit. Connect with Sarah.
Passy Ogolla Amayo
Kenya | NGFP Africa Network Weaver & Advocacy Lead
Passy is SOIF’s African Network Weaver and a Programme Manager at the Society for International Development. Her work focuses on sustainable energy, climate action and futures thinking across Africa, including leading research, dialogue and policy engagement through the Sustainable Energy Futures for Eastern Africa programme. She is also active in youth climate and energy networks, helping connect emerging leaders with policy processes and opportunities to shape more sustainable futures. Connect with Passy.
