About
The Alternative & Indigenous Futures Hub is a space for exploring, sharing and amplifying culturally diverse, non-dominant and Indigenous approaches to understanding and shaping the future. It recognises that communities around the world have long developed ways of anticipating change, caring for what must endure and thinking about future generations, even when these practices are not described as ‘futures’ or ‘foresight’.
The Hub supports practitioners to learn from and connect around these approaches while respecting the agency of knowledge holders and being mindful of power, positionality and cultural context. It complements NGFP’s Futures Methods from Around the World (FMAW) project and aims to make futures practice more accessible to people already doing this work beyond conventional foresight language and methods.

Lorna Okeng
Uganda | Art, Tech & Society Advisor & Experiential Foresight Practitioner
Lorna is a Ugandan creative technologist, immersive curator and experiential foresight practitioner working at the intersection of alternative futures, storytelling, culture and emerging technologies. With a background in electrical and computer engineering, she has worked with organisations including Google, Vodafone and Electric South, and produced Uganda’s first virtual reality film, Keepers of the Forest: The Batwa Legacy. She is an NGFP Fellow (2024) and works across creative technology, research and policy to explore culturally grounded and alternative ways of imagining futures. Connect with Lorna.
Soha Rashed
Egypt/Spain | Futures Researcher & Strategic Foresight Consultant
Soha is a futures researcher and consultant, and founder of the Arab Futures Society, working to strengthen the MENA foresight ecosystem and support Arab communities to imagine and shape their own futures. Her work focuses on strategic foresight, horizon scanning and collective intelligence, helping organisations bring futures thinking into decision-making and make better use of distributed knowledge. Jihad Hajjouji
Morocco | Community Weaver and Interim NGFP Fellowship Lead
Jihad leads the Next Generation Foresight Practitioners network at SOIF, supporting, connecting and amplifying young futures practitioners around the world, particularly across the Global South. Her background spans economic development, entrepreneurship and network building. Before joining SOIF, she worked with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development and the African Leadership Academy, where she supported investment, venture development and alumni networks across Africa.
