Cathryn Anila


Cathryn started her journey as a child advocate when she was 11 years old with Childline Foundation (Malaysia). Since then,she has participated in and / or invited as a panel speaker at many forums, conferences and meetings both locally and internationally. Cathryn advocates for spaces for child participation and champions digital resilience.She is also part of the Child Friendly Cities Initiative and she mentors the municipal childcouncil. Cathryn has participated in spaces such as the World Urban Forum9, Regional Children’s Meeting and Building a Child-Friendly ASEAN Workshop. In 2018, Cathryn founded Vanguards4Change, a youth-led NGO with youngpeople ranging from 10 - 21 years old who are passionate child rights advocacy and digital. The child and youth advocates in Vanguards4Change go by the motto of #Accompany2Empower as they conduct outreach sessions and workshops, looking to accompany more children in becoming empowered child rights advocates. Cathryn is also part of Child Helpline International’s Youth Advisory Council, Internet Society Malaysia Chapter and a few other organisations. Cathryn aspires to accompany and empower more young people in this process of creating awareness about child rights, digital resilience and moralresponsibility
